Our clinical telehealth process

From referral to recovery plan

GP referral

Your journey begins with a referral from your regular GP. To access bulk-billed service, your referral should specify Medicare Item 291.

Secure consultation

We utilise Australian government-compliant, encrypted video conferencing platforms for your telehealth assessment from home.

Management plan

Within 2 business days, your consultant psychiatrist provides your GP with a comprehensive assessment and treatment plan.

Collaborative care

Ongoing partnership between you, your psychiatrist online, and your GP ensures optimal treatment outcomes.
Medicare Eligibility

Accessing a bulk billing psychiatrist telehealth service in regional Australia

PsychCare Services offers a limited number of bulk-billed telehealth psychiatry appointments for eligible children and young people living in regional, rural and remote Australia (Modified Monash areas MM2-MM7).

When an appointment is bulk billed, PsychCare accepts the Medicare benefit as full payment and there is no consultation gap fee.

WHO MAY BE ELIGIBLE

  • The patient lives at an MM2-MM7 residential address
  • The patient has a current Medicare card and is in Australia for the consultation
  • A valid GP referral has been received and clinically accepted

Do psychiatrists do telehealth appointments?
PsychCare Services provides secure video consultations. Scientific research shows that telehealth services are as effective as in-person visits.
PsychCare Services does not provide any emergency or crisis services. In case of any emergency or crisis, please call 000 or attend your nearest Emergency Department.
PsychCare Services does NOT have the expertise to manage young people with Substance Misuse Disorders, Addiction Disorders, Gender or Identity Disorders or Forensic Disorders. We therefore do not accept referrals for these disorders. We also do not provide any Medico-Legal, Defence employment, WorkCover, Family, Custody or other court reports.
Yes, please contact the practice specifically to see if this can be organised as our practice as our default booking are telehealth appointments. Any face-to-face appointments are offered in Ipswich, Queensland.
