Practice Information

PsychCare Services Telehealth is a fully online private Youth Mental Health Practice that specialises in the clinical assessment and management of Developmental and Mental Health Disorders for young people aged 6 to 25.

Practice Hours

Monday to Thursday, 8:30am to 4pm.

You can book an appointment at any time via the website by uploading your GP referral and any other relevant information or reports.

Please contact the practice to request an urgent assessment once you have made an online booking. We will assess the referral and try to arrange an earlier appointment if possible.

Please note that the practice does not offer crisis or emergency services. If in crisis or an emergency, please dial 000 or attend your local Emergency Department.

Referrals and Billing

You will need a referral from your GP (requesting a 291 assessment) to arrange a Telehealth appointment with our Psychiatrists.

We only offer a “once off” assessment to provide your GP with a diagnostic opinion and recommendations for management (Medicare item 291).

We do not offer routine follow up appointments or ongoing care, but can sometimes see young people for a subsequent review of the management plan if requested by the GP (Medicare item 293), or for short term medication dose titration (Medicare item 304) if required.

We also Bulk Bill Medicare item 343 when we see family members or support staff separately.

Please note that we only see young people aged 6 to 25. Appointments are checked closer to the time and any appointments not meeting the age criteria will be cancelled.
PsychCare Services does not accept referrals for young people who have Substance Abuse Disorders, Gender Identity Disorders, or forensic issues. We also do not provide any WorkCover, employment, family, medico-legal or court reports.

Fees

PsychCare Services provides a Bulk Billed Telehealth service to regional and remote areas in Australia.

Young people living in Regional or Remote areas (Modified Monash Model 2019 – areas MM2–MM7) will be Bulk Billed. A credit card is still required to book an online appointment, but no fees will be charged.

You can check which MM area you live in via the Australian Government’s Health Workforce Locator.

For young people who live in Metropolitan areas (MM1), our standard fees below apply. Payment is deducted automatically from your nominated credit card following the appointment and includes an approx. 1.7% credit card surcharge.

Payment

Payment is required for all appointments on the day of the appointment. We generally send medical reports back to the referring doctor after full payment is received.

Medicare Rebates

We will submit your claim to Medicare after your appointment, and you can expect to receive your rebate 2–3 days after your appointment (if applicable). For children under 14, an invoice will be provided to families, allowing them to claim a refund directly from Medicare for the services provided by our specialist.

Appointments

All our appointments are now booked online. The initial assessment appointment lasts about 60 minutes and follow up appointments usually last 30 minutes. We have a long waiting list, so please cancel your booking if you no longer need it, so other clients can be offered the slot. A fee of $100 will be charged if you do not attend a confirmed appointment.

Assessment Reports

After your appointment, we send a report to your General Practitioner. The report contains a summary of key aspects of your history, the diagnostic impression, and a comprehensive management plan. Your General Practitioner continues to provide you with ongoing care and monitoring.

Scripts and Investigations

Our Psychiatrists may recommend medications or blood tests for you. Your GP will be informed of our recommendations after your consult. For all scripts and blood tests, please contact your referring doctor.
